Seattle has extended its management agreement with Troon for the city’s golf facilities for an additional 15 years. This new agreement, which includes a five-year renewal option, secures Troon’s operational stewardship over four municipal golf courses through 2040. The subsidiary managing these facilities, Seattle-based Premier Golf Centers, has been overseeing Seattle’s golf operations for more than two decades.

The City of Seattle owns and operates several golf facilities, which include the Interbay Golf Center, Jackson Park Golf Course, Bill Wright Golf Course at Jefferson Park, and West Seattle Golf Course. Under the renewed agreement, Troon and Premier Golf will support ongoing capital improvements to enhance the customer experience at these locations.

Patrick Merriam, Golf Operations Manager for Seattle Parks and Recreation, emphasized that the collaboration over the past 21 years has been built on trust, teamwork, and a shared passion for the game. The successful partnership aims to continue providing quality golf experiences while maintaining affordability for all residents.

Ryan Whitney, Vice President of Operations at Troon, expressed enthusiasm about the renewal and reiterated the organization’s commitment to ensuring golf remains accessible in the Seattle area. This agreement reflects Troon’s dedicated service and contribution to municipal golf facilities, which they operate across the United States.

This extended contract aligns with Troon’s recent growth and commitment to municipal golf operations, following similar renewals with the Chicago Park District and Forest Preserves of Cook County. Troon stands as the largest operator of municipal golf facilities in the United States, managing over 150 courses tailored to meet the needs of local communities.

Premier Golf Centers, a key player in this management, was established in 2001 by Bill Schickler and was acquired by Troon in September 2019. With this acquisition, Troon strengthened its presence and expertise in providing exceptional golf management services at a municipal level.

Troon’s portfolio continues to expand globally, with operations at more than 940 locations worldwide and management of over 575 golf courses. The organization offers a wide range of hospitality services through its various brands, which include Troon Golf, Troon Privé, Troon International, and others.

The renewed agreement is poised to benefit the community by enhancing golf facilities that cater to both casual players and dedicated enthusiasts. It underscores the city’s commitment to maintaining accessible recreation options for residents while boosting the local economy through enhanced facility usage and events.

Overall, the partnership marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the City of Seattle and Troon, setting the course for an exciting future at the city’s golf facilities.
