The charges arise from an incident that took place on June 27, 2025, while Gupta and her daughter were vacationing at a short-term rental home in Florida.
Emergency services responded to a 911 call made by Gupta, during which she reported that her daughter was drowning in the pool. First responders found Aria unresponsive upon their arrival and transported her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after. Subsequent autopsy results revealed troubling findings: water was not found in Aria’s lungs, which contradicts typical indicators of drowning, leading investigators to suspect foul play.
Additional autopsy examinations indicated that Aria had suffered cuts inside her mouth and bruises on her cheeks, hinting at possible smothering.
