The Anchor Bay Country Fest will open its gates at 4 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Sponsored by the New Baltimore Business Alliance and hosted by 99.5 WYCD’s Sarah Thomas, the fest promises a lineup of live music and a host of entertaining activities for attendees. There will also be a dedicated food court available throughout the weekend.
Among the highlighted activities, a cornhole tournament is scheduled for Saturday, inviting participants to showcase their skills in a friendly competition. Additionally, food enthusiasts can enjoy a VFW Steak Out dinner on Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the VFW Lempke-Blackwell Post 7573. The steak dinner includes a New York strip steak, baked potato, salad, roll, and a dessert for $18 per person.
Furthermore, a ceremony honoring POW/MIA participants will commence at 4:30 p.m. as part of the Friday festivities. Live entertainment will be provided by Jimmy MacDonald, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the fest.
The fun continues on Sunday, September 21, with Kids & Family Day at the Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families can look forward to games, activities with prizes, fresh produce, and various specialty foods available. Children will be entertained by Tootsie the Clown and face painter Chantel.
In addition to the festivities this weekend, there will be a meat raffle on September 25 at Algonac VFW Post 3901, with doors opening at 6 p.m. The raffle will give participants 30 chances to win $1,000 worth of meat, which includes products from Dearborn Sausage.
Moreover, the annual scarecrow contest invites local residents to craft creative scarecrows for display along Washington Street. Scarecrows can be dropped off at New Baltimore City Hall on September 24 and 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Voting will take place at local businesses until November 2, with winners announced on November 3.
Lastly, for those who enjoy games, Euchre Thursdays will be hosted at the New Baltimore Civic Club every Thursday night, starting at 6:30 p.m.
