Edinburgh, Scotland – Marine & Lawn Hotels and Resorts, a subsidiary of AJ Capital Partners, has expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of the Greywalls Hotel, located next to the prestigious Muirfield golf course in Scotland. This brings the total number of properties under the Marine & Lawn brand to eight worldwide.
Greywalls Hotel is uniquely situated behind the 10th tee box of Muirfield, the home course of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. Renowned for its historical significance and design, the Edwardian estate was crafted by famed architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1901 and has served as a retreat for both royals and avid golf enthusiasts. The hotel boasts exquisite gardens designed by the influential gardener Gertrude Jekyll and has been in the ownership of the Weaver family since 1926.
With this acquisition, guests will enjoy exclusive access to Muirfield, a golf course that has hosted the coveted Open Championship sixteen times and consistently ranks among the top 10 golf courses globally, as recognized by Golf Digest. Plans are underway for renovations at Greywalls Hotel aimed at enhancing the overall guest experience, including updates to the interiors and improvements to food and beverage offerings.
In addition to the Scottish acquisition, Marine & Lawn is broadening its presence in the United States by acquiring Mid Pines Inn and Pine Needles Lodge located in Southern Pines, North Carolina. These properties, both dating back to the 1920s, are situated along courses designed by golf legend Donald Ross. The company plans to undertake extensive renovations in these US locations, which will include refurbishing guest rooms, revitalizing dining concepts, and enhancing public spaces.
Guests at Mid Pines Inn and Pine Needles Lodge will receive priority access to golfing opportunities and curated packages that ensure premier experiences on the greens. This strategy is part of Marine & Lawn’s larger vision to deliver world-class hospitality centered around historic golf locales, a mission that has guided the brand since its inception in 2019.
The founder of Marine & Lawn emphasized the importance of integrating luxury hospitality with golf’s storied locations. The acquisition of Greywalls Hotel is particularly aligned with the company’s objective to amplify guest experiences within the realm of golf tourism.
As Marine & Lawn continues to establish itself in iconic golf regions, it is focused on providing elevated travel experiences through local partnerships and cultural immersion. Looking forward, the company has plans for further expansion, potentially targeting properties in both England and Ireland, and is developing bespoke golf tourism experiences such as the Grand Tour Experience.
This strategic expansion reflects Marine & Lawn’s commitment to enhancing the golf experience for travelers, combining luxury stay options with access to some of the world’s most prestigious and historic golf courses.
