Brewster, Washington – New Golf Course to Open at Gamble Sands Resort

The Gamble Sands Resort in Brewster, Washington, is set to unveil its second 18-hole golf course, named Scarecrow, on August 1, 2025. Tee times for this highly anticipated course can be reserved online at www.gamblesands.com.

Designed by renowned golf course architect David McLay Kidd with the assistance of Nick Schaan, Scarecrow is being developed on 300 acres of rolling terrain that once served as cornfields. The location offers stunning views of the Columbia River Valley and the orchards owned by the Gebbers family, adding to the natural beauty of the golfing experience.

Scarecrow is designed to challenge golfers with a par of 71, stretching a total of 6,900 yards. The course promises a unique playing experience with its fine fescue turf, ensuring firm and fast greens. Golfers will find a mix of creative design elements throughout the course, including speed slots and boomerangs. Additionally, Scarecrow features an array of angles and slopes, several reachable par 5s, five distinct par 3s, and challenging par 4s.

Course Features and Layout

The layout of Scarecrow begins with a downhill par 4 that includes a blind tee shot and concludes dramatically with a drivable par 4 perched on a cliff-edge green. This mix of intrigue and challenge sets the course apart while maintaining the fun factor that has made the original Gamble Sands Course a favorite among players.

Preliminary reviews for Scarecrow have been overwhelmingly positive, indicating a strong initial reception from players eager to experience the new course.

Resort Enhancements and Accommodations

In a move to enhance the guest experience, Gamble Sands recently opened 40 new double-king golf-view rooms at The Inn at Gamble Sands, increasing the total number of luxury accommodations to 77. These new rooms feature modern amenities, including walk-in showers, large-screen televisions, mini-fridges, coffee makers, and private patios. Guests can also enjoy access to a new putting green specifically available for those staying in the golf-view rooms.

With the completion of Scarecrow, Gamble Sands now features a total of 50 holes of golf, including two championship courses designed by McLay Kidd and a 14-hole short course named Quicksands. The resort is also home to a sprawling 100,000-square-foot Cascades Putting Course, multiple dining options, a complete practice facility, and a well-stocked golf shop.

Recognition and Management

The original Gamble Sands Course is highly regarded, currently ranked No. 14 on GOLF Magazine’s list of the “Top 100 Courses You Can Play”, and is recognized as one of the premier golf destinations in the U.S. The resort is managed by Troon, a globally recognized leader in golf course management based in Scottsdale, Arizona, which oversees over 900 locations worldwide, including numerous golf courses and hospitality venues.

With the opening of Scarecrow, Gamble Sands continues to solidify its position as a top golf resort, offering players and guests a unique blend of challenging golf and exceptional facilities.
