Jackson, 25, has prior experience with both San Diego FC and the San Jose Earthquakes, and he holds impressive collegiate records. His acquisition highlights FC Dallas’s commitment to building a competitive squad through strategic trades focusing on young talent.

Frisco, Texas – FC Dallas has announced the acquisition of goalkeeper Jacob Jackson from San Diego FC in exchange for a natural third-round pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft. The transaction was officially confirmed on July 30, 2025, marking a strategic move as the club looks to bolster its roster ahead of the upcoming seasons.

Jackson, a 25-year-old native of San Diego, California, kicked off the 2025 season with San Diego FC after being selected in Stage 1 of the 2024 MLS Re-Entry Draft. During his tenure with the club, he made three regular-season appearances. Prior to joining San Diego FC, Jackson played one match in the U.S. Open Cup for the San Jose Earthquakes in 2024.

Originally drafted 24th overall by the New England Revolution in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, Jackson has accumulated considerable experience in professional soccer. Before his time with San Diego FC, he primarily played with New England Revolution II and The Town FC in MLS NEXT Pro, where he tallied over 3,000 professional minutes and earned recognition as the MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month in May 2022. During this standout month, he achieved five consecutive shutouts and accumulated a total of nine clean sheets throughout his professional career.

Jackson’s collegiate career at Loyola Marymount University was notable, as he earned the title of West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year twice and set multiple program records, including the most consecutive scoreless minutes in a season, with an impressive 560 minutes. In his college career, Jackson recorded a record of 26 wins, 8 losses, and 8 draws, and during his junior season, he finished sixth nationwide in goals against average.

Standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds, Jackson brings a solid physical presence to the FC Dallas goalkeeping lineup. His addition to the team is expected to enhance their defensive capabilities as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming MLS seasons.

The acquisition also illustrates FC Dallas’s commitment to building a strong squad through strategic trades, focusing on younger talents with potential for growth and success in the league. By securing Jackson, the club not only deepens its goalkeeping options but also positions itself ahead of the 2026 MLS SuperDraft.

With FC Dallas focusing on both short-term performance and long-term development, the addition of Jacob Jackson may prove pivotal as the club seeks to improve its standing in Major League Soccer.

As the season progresses, fans and analysts will be keenly observing how Jackson adapts to his new role with FC Dallas and contributes to the team’s performance both in regular league play and cup competitions.
