Portland, Oregon – A 37-year-old man named Abel Arambula was arrested on Thursday for multiple burglary-related charges stemming from suspicious activity reported at a construction site in Washington County. The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. in the Bethany neighborhood, where a concerned caller alerted authorities about a suspicious individual between houses that were under construction.
Deputies responded to the call, receiving a description of the individual and the vehicle they drove. The investigation led law enforcement to locate a 2010 Nissan Versa, which raised suspicion due to duct tape covering its license plate. Upon further investigation, Arambula was identified as the vehicle’s driver, and authorities found various construction tools inside the car.
Additional scrutiny of the vehicle linked it to a prior burglary incident at another construction site that had occurred on August 7. Investigators acted promptly, executing a search warrant at Arambula’s residence shortly after 9 a.m., during which detectives uncovered multiple stolen items.
As a result of the investigation, Arambula has been booked into the Washington County Jail on several charges. These include three counts of second-degree burglary, first-degree theft, and first-degree criminal trespass.
The investigation commenced when law enforcement received a 911 call concerning a suspicious individual seen between houses under construction on Northwest Anastasia Drive. The prompt report allowed deputies to act swiftly, tracking down the suspect’s vehicle and confirming the identity of the driver.
The prompt actions by the Washington County deputies contributed to a swift investigation that included the recovery of tools indicating potential theft and links to previous burglary activities. The discovery of duct tape on the license plate signaled an attempt to conceal the vehicle’s identity, heightening the suspicious circumstances surrounding the case.
As of now, Abel Arambula is facing serious legal repercussions. The charges against him will be adjudicated in the Washington County judicial system, with the potential for significant penalties reflecting the severity of the accusations related to burglary and theft.
In light of this incident, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone who may have additional information regarding the case to reach out.
