Indianapolis – Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever guard and reigning Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year, has withdrawn from the upcoming 2025 WNBA All-Star Game due to a right groin injury. The All-Star Game is set to take place on Saturday, July 19, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, starting at 8:30 p.m. ET. Replacements Brittney Sykes from the Washington Mystics and Brionna Jones from the Atlanta Dream will step in for Clark and Phoenix Mercury forward Satou Sabally, who is also unable to participate.
The All-Star team starters were announced on June 30, while reserves were selected by the league’s coaches on July 6. Team captains for this year’s All-Star Game include Clark and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier. Notably, four players representing UConn and Notre Dame reflect the strong collegiate affiliations, while South Carolina has three participants among those selected for the event.
This season, Clark has faced significant injury challenges, missing 11 games due to four non-contact injuries. Prior to this season, Clark had an impressive streak of 181 consecutive games played throughout her collegiate and professional career. The Indiana Fever, currently holding a 12-11 record, have struggled without their star player, winning only 4 of the 10 games during her absences.
The All-Star Weekend festivities will also feature the Kia WNBA Skills Challenge and the WNBA STARRY® 3-Point Contest on Friday, July 18, starting at 8 p.m. ET and airing live on ESPN. The Skills Challenge will include competitors such as Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Natasha Cloud (New York Liberty), and Courtney Williams (Minnesota Lynx), showcasing various basketball skills tests that incorporate a 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrid as part of the challenge.
The WNBA STARRY® 3-Point Contest, which Clark was initially slated to participate in, will include other top talent such as Gray, Sabrina Ionescu (New York Liberty), Kelsey Plum (Los Angeles Sparks), and Sonya Citron (Washington Mystics). Fans will have the opportunity to take part in WNBA Live presented by Panini, a two-day interactive festival that celebrates the essence of fashion, music, and culture at the Indiana Convention Center from July 18 to 19.
Additionally, players will have the chance to showcase their personal style while walking the orange carpet during the All-Star Weekend. The All-Star Game will adopt a draft format in which captains Clark and Collier will select their respective teams from among the chosen All-Stars. Clark even suggested a coaching swap during the team selections, adding a unique element to the event.
This year’s All-Star Game will showcase exciting talent across the league, with Clark’s average statistics for the 2025 season standing at 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds over 13 games. As fans prepare for the upcoming events, tickets for the All-Star Game and related activities, including WNBA Live, remain available for purchase through Ticketmaster.
The All-Star Game and its associated events will be broadcast across multiple platforms, including ABC, Disney+, and ESPN+, ensuring that fans can enjoy the festivities regardless of their location.
